Mentor Woman's Club Membership
Dues: Annual dues are $35 plus a one time application fee of $10.
Standing Committees and Departments. Each member chooses one committee and one department on which she will work that year. Standing Committees are: Program, Membership, Social, Finance, By-Laws, Newsletter, Ways & Means, Helping Hand, and Historian. The Departments are: Arts & Crafts, Community Interest, Education & Legislation, Family Living, Gardening, Music & Drama, and Women's Interest.
Meetings: General membership meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month from October through May. The general membership meeting is held at Mentor United Methodist Church at 8600 Mentor Avenue in Mentor, Ohio. Active members are required to attend a minimum of three meetings during the Club year.
Every meeting includes past, present, and future business; a program hosted by different departments; and refreshments. Past programs included a concert by "Sentimental Swingtime," a lecture on "The Secret of the Dragonfly" by authors Gayle Shaw Cramer and Jan Jones, an encaustic (wax) art workshop, and a performance by the Sho-Jo-Jo Dance Team just to name a few.
Activities: Once a month, the members' "Lunch Bunch" meet to sample good food and enjoy great company at different restaurants throughout the Cleveland area. Club members have taken field trips to the Perambulator Museum in Jefferson OH, "Diana--A Celebration" an exhibition at Western Reserve Historical Society, and a bus tour through Lakeview Cemetery (Cleveland OH).
Past social events include a summer gathering for a non-club event ranging from a lake-side picnic to a Lake Captain's baseball game.
